MEPs Warn EU Not to Follow Suit on Google Ad Tech Ruling
MEPs in the European Parliament have urged the EU to follow its own path in dealing with Google's ad tech business, rather than simply following the lead of other regulators. This comes after a recent decision by some national authorities to allow Google to avoid breaking up its ad tech business.
The MEPs argue that while this approach may seem to be taking a more lenient view of Google's dominance in the market, it could ultimately harm competition and innovation.
Google has been under investigation for several years over concerns about its dominance in the digital advertising market. The company has recently proposed a global AI opt-out for publishers as part of an effort to resolve the EU's antitrust probe.
