A new cancer treatment developed by Merck and Moderna has shown positive results in a Phase 3 trial. The treatment, called intismeran autogene, is designed to work differently for each patient using mRNA technology.

The study involved 1,137 people with high-risk melanoma who had their tumors completely removed through surgery. The combination of the new treatment and Merck's KEYTRUDA reduced the risk of cancer returning and spreading by 49% compared to KEYTRUDA alone.

This is a promising development in the fight against cancer, as it marks one of the first times mRNA technology has been used to treat cancer patients. The companies are also studying the treatment in other cancers, including lung, bladder, and kidney cancer.
