Merck Beats Q2 Estimates on Strong New Product Sales
Pharmaceutical giant Merck posted stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, driven by growth in new product sales. The company reported a net loss of $1.34 billion, or 54 cents per share, for the quarter, but exceeded revenue estimates.
The quarterly revenue reached $16.61 billion, up 5% from the same period last year, with key products such as Keytruda and Winrevair showing significant growth. Keytruda generated $8.37 billion in sales, a 5% increase from the previous quarter, while Winrevair's sales rose 75% to $588 million.
Merck's revenue outlook has been raised for 2026, with the company now expecting between $66.3 billion and $67.3 billion in revenue. However, its profit guidance was lowered due to charges related to recent acquisitions, including Terns Pharmaceuticals and Cidara Therapeutics.
