Merck Expands Singapore Laboratory to Boost Biopharmaceutical Testing
Merck Life Sciences is expanding its BioReliance research facility in Singapore to over 1,000 square meters. This expansion will equip the facility with capabilities for cell line characterization and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) based on Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
The facility will become the first BioReliance location in the Asia-Pacific region to possess both cell line characterization and GMP-based NGS capabilities.
Merck's proprietary molecular-based testing platform, 'Blazar,' is also being introduced to the Singapore laboratory. Clients can leverage cell-based testing and molecular analysis technologies together to verify the quality and safety of biopharmaceuticals.
The expansion focused on utilizing testing methods that replace or reduce animal testing, supporting the application of the 3R principles: Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement of animal testing.
