Merck Foundation Congratulates Burundi's First Lady on UN Recognition
The Merck Foundation has congratulated Burundi's First Lady, H.E. Madam Angeline Ndayishimiye, on receiving the 2026 United Nations Population Award in the institutional category for her charity, Fondation Bonne Action Umugiraneza.
This recognition is a result of the foundation's commitment to improving health and well-being in Burundi, particularly through initiatives such as girls' education and addressing social issues like child marriage and infertility stigma.
The Merck Foundation has been working closely with H.E. Madam Angeline Ndayishimiye since 2020, providing scholarships for Burundian doctors and supporting the development of local expertise in fertility care, among other initiatives.
