Merck Foundation Transforms Hypertension Care in Africa with Scholarships and Community Programs
Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation, is leading an effort to improve hypertension and cardiovascular care in Africa and Asia through scholarships and community awareness programs.
The foundation has provided nearly 1,000 scholarships for young healthcare providers from 52 countries to pursue online degrees in diabetes, cardiovascular preventive care, endocrinology, cardiology, and obesity management.
Dr. Kelej emphasized the importance of expanding access to quality and equitable care in hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, which have a high prevalence in Africa.
