Merck Animal Health has introduced new vaccination strategies for swine health challenges. Dr. Megan Inskeep, a swine technical service veterinarian at Merck, spoke about tailored approaches for Myco-negative herds at the 2026 World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa.

For producers maintaining Mycoplasma-negative status, serologic monitoring requirements impact vaccination decisions. To avoid antibody responses to mycoplasma from vaccination or field exposure, Merck offers a product covering circovirus and Lawsonia protection without vaccinating for Mycoplasma.

The CIRCUMVENT CL product is now available for producers, providing a ready-to-use option for these herds. Dr. Inskeep highlighted the importance of considering co-infections when evaluating vaccination timing, particularly during the post-weaning phase.
