Merritt Island Home Invasion Trial: Prosecutors Present Evidence in Murder Case

Prosecutors presented evidence in the trial of Chase Harrison, Cory Cabaniss, and Anthony Davila, accused of first-degree felony murder in connection with a home invasion that resulted in the shooting death of Matthew Nicol on Merritt Island. The incident occurred in 2021.

Nicol was 25 years old at the time of his death. Surveillance video captured five armed suspects arriving at the scene in a rented U-Haul while disguised as law enforcement officers.

Prosecutors presented testimony about cell phone records that placed the defendants' phones near a cell tower at the time of the home invasion, and also discussed a hammer left at the crime scene that investigators say was purchased by one of the defendants at Home Depot the day before Nicol's death.
