Meta's AI Research Spending Falls Behind Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft
Meta's AI efforts have fallen behind those of Amazon, Alphabet, and Microsoft.
A comparison of the four companies' research spending shows that Meta lags significantly in terms of investment. In a recent analysis, it was found that Meta spent approximately $22 billion on research and development (R&D) from 2019 to 2022, while Amazon's R&D expenditure during this period was around $73 billion.
The data suggests that despite investing heavily in AI, Meta has not been able to match the level of investment made by its peers. Alphabet, which owns Google, spent around $55 billion on R&D from 2019 to 2022, while Microsoft's expenditure during this period was approximately $46 billion.
