Mets Take Down IronPigs in Doubleheader Sweep

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs were swept in their doubleheader by the Syracuse Mets on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park. The final score was 6-0 and 8-7.

In Game One, the Mets took an early lead in the third inning with back-to-back solo homers from Zack Short and D'Andre Smith. MJ Melendez followed up with a two-run shot to make it 4-0. Smith added another RBI on a fielder's choice in the fourth while Mark Vientos joined the home run party with a solo shot in the seventh.

MJ Melendez finished Game One with two runs batted in, while Zack Short and D'Andre Smith each had three hits for the Mets. Jonah Tong earned the win for the Mets, retiring the first 12 IronPigs he faced and carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning before conceding a double to Kameron Misner.

In Game Two, the 'Pigs started out hot but ultimately fell behind in a game that saw multiple comebacks. After loading the bases with one out, Otto Kemp scampered home a passed ball to start the scoring for the IronPigs. Colby Thomas doubled home two more, while Payton Henry ended the rally with an RBI single.
