Mexico City Launches Circular Economy Waste Program in Bosque de Chapultepec

The Government of Mexico City has launched Chapultepec Circular, a waste management model for the Bosque de Chapultepec that aims to optimize waste separation and material recovery methods. The program will be supported by major companies such as Grupo Bimbo, Dow, Tetra Pak, and Coca-Cola FEMSA, as well as civil society organizations and stakeholders.

The model organizes waste into three categories: organic, recyclable, and non-recyclable, with the objective of recovering materials that can return to production processes. The program also includes awareness and training activities for visitors, workers, merchants, and companies operating in or connected to the Bosque de Chapultepec.

Companies such as Grupo Bimbo have provided support to the initiative by donating an electric cart to transport waste within the park. Coca-Cola FEMSA has also joined the initiative, providing equipment and supplies for a new collection center and transporting recovered materials to facilities for processing.
