Micro1 Tops Google's Bid for Spirit Aviation Records with $12.5M Offer

A bidding war has erupted over the internal records of Spirit Aviation Holdings, a dead airline that stopped flying in May. The AI training-data company micro1 has offered $12.5 million for the records, topping Google's agreed deal of $10 million.

The records include 500 million Microsoft Teams items, 100 million emails, and roughly 16 million customer chat sessions.

micro1's offer is aimed at undercutting Google's terms, which would have seen Spirit hand the material to parties designated by the buyer. micro1 proposes an ombudsman chosen by Spirit's advisers, and says the data would be stored in the United States.
