Micron Invests $10 Billion in AI-Focused Research Lab
Micron has announced plans to invest $10 billion in its new research institution, Micron Research Labs, based in Boise, Idaho.
The initiative will focus on future memory technologies, advanced computing architectures, packaging, and semiconductor manufacturing. The lab is expected to break ground in 2027 and host hundreds of researchers.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Apple CEO Tim Cook have expressed their support for the initiative, stating that Micron's research will drive breakthroughs in AI and computing. Mehrotra said the goal is to look beyond current technology roadmaps and focus on future memory needs.
