Micron Stock (MU) Gains on $10 Billion AI Lab Backed by Nvidia (NVDA) and Apple (AAPL)
The U.S. semiconductor firm Micron has announced plans to build a new artificial intelligence research memory lab worth $10 billion in Boise, Idaho. The company aims to develop the lab over the next decade to support future chip creation and advance memory technology.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang expressed his support for the initiative, stating that improving memory is 'one of the great challenges of the AI era.' Apple CEO Tim Cook also backed the center, highlighting their long-standing supply partnership with Micron, which has lasted over 20 years. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick praised the development, calling it the nation's first dedicated Memory Research Lab.
The new AI lab is part of Micron's larger goal to grow its U.S. operations. The company previously revealed plans to invest more than $250 billion in manufacturing, research, and development projects across the country.
