Microsoft 365 E7's AI Promise Falls Flat for Many Companies

Microsoft's latest enterprise suite, Microsoft 365 E7, has been met with caution from companies looking to adopt its AI capabilities. Despite its promise of a comprehensive bundle of productivity and collaboration tools at a reasonable cost, many are hesitant to make the switch.

The M365 E7 license includes everything in the previous E5 package, plus Copilot for integrating AI agents into 365 productivity products, Microsoft Entra Suite for extended identity and access management, and Agent 365 for centralized AI control. The package is listed at $99 per user annually, a price that is attractive to those already invested in Microsoft technologies.

However, concerns about return on investment and the potential for wasted money are holding companies back from adopting E7. With so many AI models available, some organizations may find it hard to justify the cost of Copilot, which provides a one-size-fits-all platform that might not be suitable for all needs.

Additionally, customers should be aware that M365 E7 includes consumption-based pricing, where costs can add up quickly if they go over the allotted number of security compute units (SCUs) or use products like Copilot Studio and WorkIQ API.
