Microsoft Advertising Introduces Excluded Content Terms for Enhanced Brand Safety
Microsoft Advertising has introduced Excluded Content Terms, a new brand safety feature that allows advertisers to block Audience Ads from being placed next to specific terms or phrases in page titles. This enhances existing ad placement tools by giving advertisers more control over where their ads appear.
The feature works by allowing advertisers to create a list of undesirable terms or phrases, which Microsoft Advertising will then scan for in the page title of all Audience Ads placements. If a match is found, the ad will be blocked from being displayed.
Advertisers can enter up to 1,000 terms per exclusion list and set exclusions at either the account or campaign level. Setting exclusions at the campaign level allows advertisers to apply nuanced controls across multiple campaigns.
This feature comes as part of Microsoft Advertising's efforts to address brand safety concerns in programmatic advertising. As automation takes a greater role in advertising, brand advertisers are increasingly relying on automated placements, making features like Excluded Content Terms valuable for ensuring ads only appear next to desirable content.
