Microsoft AI Chip Launch Could Boost Suppliers Amid Nvidia Challenge
Microsoft's (MSFT) potential launch of its Maia 300 AI chip has caught the attention of suppliers involved in its custom silicon program, including Marvell Technology (MRVL) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM). Analyst Matt Bryson from Wedbush Securities believes a successful rollout could improve the outlook for these companies.
The Maia 300 may also pose a threat to Nvidia's (NVDA) dominance in AI inference. However, Wedbush expects limited near-term pressure on Nvidia due to its ability to secure chip supplies. Microsoft plans to introduce the Maia 300 as early as this fall and has discussed securing capacity for over 300,000 chips for delivery in 2027.
