Microsoft Aims to Unveil Next-Gen Maia 300 AI Chip This Fall
Microsoft is reportedly planning to unveil its new Maia 300 AI chip this fall, possibly as early as next month. The Information reported on Monday that people with direct knowledge of Microsoft's plans confirmed the upcoming launch.
The Maia series began in 2024 with the Maia 100 and continued with the Maia 200, which is already deployed in Azure datacenters and delivers improved inference performance and efficiency using advanced 3nm process technology. However, Microsoft's AI chip efforts have faced delays.
According to The Information, the new Maia 300 chip represents a next-generation design that aims to outperform prior Maia chips and close the gap with Nvidia.
