Microsoft and Aker Solutions Join Forces on Carbon Capture
Aker Solutions and Microsoft have formed a partnership to accelerate the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects globally. The collaboration aims to address technical and commercial challenges that can delay project development, while reducing execution risks and improving investment readiness.
The companies will combine their expertise in engineering, AI, data analytics, and carbon markets to provide project developers with greater clarity around technical feasibility, economics, financing, and implementation.
Aker Solutions CEO Kjetel Digre emphasized that stronger cooperation across the value chain will become increasingly important as the carbon-management market develops. Microsoft has set an objective to become carbon negative by 2030 and remove its historical emissions by 2050.
