Microsoft and NVIDIA: Which AI Giant is Poised for Explosive Growth?
Microsoft and NVIDIA, two tech giants at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI), have recently released their earnings reports for fiscal year 2026. Microsoft's Azure surpassed $100 billion in annual revenue, while its commercial remaining performance obligations reached a staggering $678 billion, up 84% year over year.
NVIDIA, on the other hand, delivered an impressive quarter with $81.6 billion in revenue, representing an 85% increase from the previous year. The company's non-GAAP gross margin held steady at 75%, and management guided Q2 revenue to around $91 billion.
The data center segment was a major driver of NVIDIA's growth, with networking revenue increasing by 199% year over year due to InfiniBand and NVLink. Jensen Huang described the moment as 'Agentic AI has arrived.'
Satya Nadella framed Microsoft's position differently, stating that the company is 'advancing the frontier on the cost-to-outcome curve.' Both bets are working, but they compound in very different ways.
