Microsoft and Paige Unveil Pathology AI Model with Comprehensive Training Data
Microsoft Research and Paige have collaborated on a new pathology AI model called PRISM 2. This model is unique in that it's trained on both tissue images and real-world clinical language, allowing it to handle multiple cancer detection, biomarker prediction, and research tasks.
The researchers report that PRISM 2 performs strongly across various pathology benchmarks. Notably, the model has been made available for non-commercial research, which could help push the field forward further.
PRISM 2 is trained on nearly 2.5 million whole-slide images along with their corresponding pathology reports. This comprehensive training data allows the model to learn not only what cancer looks like under a microscope but also how pathologists describe it in clinical language.
