Microsoft Axes Employee Feedback Tool Amid Shift to Continuous Performance Discussions
Microsoft is phasing out its employee feedback tool, Perspectives, as part of a broader overhaul of its performance management strategy. The company introduced Perspectives in 2018 to make peer feedback a regular part of work rather than something tied only to annual reviews.
The platform allowed employees to request feedback directly from colleagues, with responses visible to both the employee and their manager. However, Microsoft is now retiring the tool as it continues to reshape how it evaluates performance and workplace growth.
According to an internal HR message reviewed by Business Insider, feedback remains an important part of Microsoft's growth mindset, but employees and managers have stated that feedback is most valuable when shared through ongoing conversations rather than formal requests.
