Microsoft Azure Cracks $100 Billion Barrier with Record-Breaking Growth
Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) stock price surged by an impressive 18% following its quarterly results, which showed remarkable growth in Azure cloud revenue. The tech giant reported $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time, a 41% jump from the previous year.
The significant increase in Azure cloud revenue is a clear indication that Microsoft's massive investment in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure is paying off. The company remains the second-largest cloud provider globally, behind only Amazon. To stay competitive in the AI era, major cloud providers are investing heavily in AI infrastructure, with an estimated $750 billion spent on AI capital expenditure this year.
Microsoft's quarterly results were equally impressive, with revenue growing 18% year-over-year to $90 billion and net income soaring by 31%. CEO Satya Nadella highlighted that Microsoft 365 Copilot has surpassed 30 million paid seats, demonstrating the company's deep entrenchment with enterprise customers.
The strong financial performance was accompanied by a positive free cash flow of $19.6 billion in its fiscal fourth quarter of 2026. The company's trailing price-to-earnings ratio currently sits at 28, below the technology sector average of 35, indicating that the stock remains attractively valued.
