Microsoft Brings High-End Surface Laptop Ultra to South African Shores
Microsoft is set to release its Surface Laptop Ultra in South Africa, challenging Apple's dominance in the high-end laptop market. The device, which leverages NVIDIA's RTX Spark processor, will bring greater on-device AI functionality and performance capabilities.
The confirmation comes from John Press, business unit head for Microsoft Surface at Core Group, who stated that the Laptop Ultra will indeed be sold in South Africa through Core as the exclusive distributor.
While Microsoft has not revealed a precise launch date or pricing details, Press hinted that it would be sometime this calendar year. The device is being billed as a top choice for developers and AI builders due to its powerful NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 128GB of unified memory and full CUDA support.
The Surface Laptop Ultra combines the capabilities of both CPU and GPU, allowing for seamless handling of AI-specific workloads. Microsoft has emphasized that this device is designed for creators, developers, and AI builders who require massive scenes, long compile cycles, local models, and datasets to run simultaneously without issues.
