Microsoft Brings Xbox 360 Games to PCs Via Project Helix
Microsoft is planning to bring Xbox 360 games to PC through its Project Helix platform. The company recently sent a document to developers revealing this plan, which includes making these games playable on 'Xbox PCs' - essentially any PC that runs the Xbox app.
The document also states that games will run on both next-gen devices and handhelds like the ROG Xbox Ally. Developers will be able to toggle backwards compatibility on for their games and make them available for purchase, set prices, and decide whether or not to include them in Game Pass.
Microsoft has announced plans to bring original Xbox games to PC as well, with a target launch date of October 2026. The company's Project Helix is expected to launch without a disc drive, indicating that it may utilize digital game distribution.
