Microsoft Clarity Adds Branded Query Segmentation to AI Citations Dashboard
Microsoft has made its third release in 25 days to Clarity's AI Citations dashboard, adding branded query segmentation. This feature lets site owners separate queries that name a brand from generic ones AI systems use to compose an answer.
The change addresses the question of whether measured AI visibility reflects existing demand or new discovery. It was published on August 3, 2026, under a Clarity Staff byline with no version number or pricing note.
Microsoft states that not all AI visibility comes from the same kind of query, and without a way to separate them, it can be difficult to understand performance. The new feature splits the Share of Authority card by branded and non-branded queries, showing where authority is strongest.
The release includes four changes: branded labels in the queries card, share of authority breakdown by query type, branded and non-branded filters, and more precise citation analysis.
