Microsoft's Xbox console sales are experiencing a significant decline in the US market. According to Statista data, the Xbox One currently has more active players than the entire Xbox Series X and Series S generation combined. With 23% of active users, the old console is outperforming its newer counterparts.

The numbers paint an even more dismal picture for Microsoft when compared to Sony's consoles. The PS5 leads with 46% of active players in the US market, while the PS4 still retains a significant share at 27%. Interestingly, the PS4 is attracting more users than Microsoft's entire current generation.

The weak adoption of the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles is also reflected in Microsoft's financial results. The company recorded a significant drop in revenue from console sales during its last fiscal year, exacerbated by rising component costs and inflation.
