Microsoft Declares Windows on Arm a First-Class Platform with 7,000 Compatible Apps

Microsoft has declared Windows on Arm a 'first-class platform' following significant progress in app compatibility and performance. The company cited over 7,000 apps now marked as compatible with Windows on Arm, including productivity apps essential to customer daily work.

The growing list of compatible apps reflects both customer demand and increasing momentum from developers building with Arm as a first-class Windows platform. Klaus Diaconu, Partner Director at Microsoft, stated that market demand is driving silicon providers and OEM partners to invest more in Windows on Arm devices.

Microsoft highlighted improved emulation capabilities and better performance for apps not natively built for Arm, two areas that will need to keep improving for Windows on Arm to remain competitive with x86 devices. The company's focus on Windows on Arm is driven by customer demand for powerful and efficient Windows devices.
