Microsoft Ditches Azure VMware Solution Amid Licensing Shift
Microsoft has announced that it will retire its Azure VMware Solution (AVS) on August 30, forcing existing users to migrate to Broadcom's VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).
This move is in line with Broadcom's preferred bring-your-own-license model for VCF, which requires clients to purchase portable licenses.
Microsoft has urged immediate assessment of current AVS environments and the development of a comprehensive transition roadmap to avoid service disruption.
The retirement of AVS follows similar accommodations by Oracle earlier this year regarding Broadcom's bundled cloud subscription model for VMware software.
