Microsoft Ditches Peer-Feedback Tool Amid Review Overhaul

Microsoft is revamping its employee review system and has decided to retire its peer-feedback tool, Perspectives. The decision comes as part of a broader overhaul aimed at simplifying performance ratings and making distinctions sharper.

Perspectives allowed employees to request input on their performance from peers that would be visible to the employee and their managers. However, Microsoft found that feedback was most valuable when shared through informal conversations rather than formal requests.

The tool will no longer be available for new feedback requests, but existing requests can still be responded to until September 15. After this date, employees can export their feedback history.

This change is part of a larger effort to flatten the organization and adopt a more hardcore work culture, similar to other tech giants in the industry.
