Microsoft Donates 22.5 Acres to Support Affordable Housing Efforts in Atlanta
Microsoft has been working on several initiatives in Atlanta, and one of them involves donating land to support affordable housing efforts. In November 2025, Microsoft donated approximately 22.5 acres of land in the Grove Park neighborhood, specifically at Quarry Yards, a property it had purchased in 2021. The donation is tied to Mayor Andre Dickens' goal of constructing or preserving 20,000 affordable housing units across Atlanta by 2029.
The city plans to use the donated land for community-focused development and to expand opportunities for Grove Park residents. This will include supporting affordable housing, stronger neighborhood resources, and other long-term benefits for the community.
A community celebration is scheduled for September 12, 2026, to mark the donation and highlight the work ahead. The event will give residents and community stakeholders a chance to learn more about the next phase of development and celebrate Grove Park's history.
