Microsoft Erases Gaming Guides Recommending 32GB RAM Amid 8GB Surface PC Rollout
Microsoft has quietly removed two Windows Learning Center articles that recommended 32GB of system memory for gaming. The first guide, published in November 2025, described 16GB as sufficient for most players and 32GB as ideal for users running demanding games or heavy mods.
The second article was similar to the first, recommending 32GB RAM for gaming and multitasking. However, both guides are now gone from the Windows Learning Center.
Microsoft has not explained why these articles were removed, but it may be related to the company's decision to sell 8GB versions of the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch.
The 8GB models are classified as regular Windows 11 PCs, while those with at least 16GB qualify for Copilot+ PC features. Microsoft describes the 8GB model as suitable for browsing and productivity, but recommends the 16GB version for heavier applications and Copilot+ experiences.
