Microsoft's Exchange Online service experienced an outage on Monday morning, affecting thousands of users who rely on it for email and mailbox access.

According to Down Detector, a platform that tracks outages and problems for online platforms, there was a significant spike in reports of issues with Outlook around 8 a.m. PT.

The site showed over 6,000 reports of problems at 8:17 a.m., indicating the severity of the issue.

A Microsoft representative confirmed that the company is investigating the matter and has identified an authentication component as contributing to the problem.
