Microsoft Execs Frustrated with Own AI Technology, Dubbed 'AI Slop'

Microsoft's senior executives are expressing frustration with the company's own AI technology, specifically its Copilot tool. In a recent post on LinkedIn, Ryan Roslansky, Microsoft EVP and former CEO of LinkedIn, bemoaned the existence of 'AI slop' in the workplace.

Roslansky lamented that AI-generated content is often unhelpful and fails to bring new thinking to ideas, leading to a 'doom loop.' This sentiment was echoed by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who has used the phrase 'AI slop' to describe subpar experiences like Microsoft's gaming Copilot.

Microsoft's data centers have been facing criticism for their environmental impact and destruction of local communities. The company's handling of AI technology has also led to concerns about content theft and the reliance on cannibalizing human-made content, creating an incestuous data 'doom loop.'
