Microsoft Expands Cloud Footprint in India with Hyderabad Region Launch
Microsoft recently launched its fourth and largest cloud region in India, located in Hyderabad. The new region is part of Microsoft's $20.5 billion commitment to India's cloud and AI buildout. HDFC Bank, Adani Group, Bajaj Finserv, and PB Pay are among the early users of the new region.
The Hyderabad region has three Availability Zones and uses air-cooled chillers that consume zero water for cooling. Microsoft operates a total of four owned cloud regions in India, with existing sites in Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai. The company has also partnered with Jio to operate two additional regions.
According to IDC, India's public cloud spending is expected to reach $45.7 billion by 2030, growing 22.2% annually. Microsoft's launch of the new region comes as hyperscale companies, including Alphabet and Amazon, are expanding their data center capacity in India.
