Microsoft Expands Defender for Cloud to Support AWS, GCP
Microsoft has significantly expanded its Defender for Cloud platform to include support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), addressing a pressing issue in container security.
A recent survey by Red Hat found that 89% of organizations have experienced at least one container or Kubernetes-related security incident in the past 12 months, with misconfiguration being a major contributor to these incidents. Microsoft's move is aimed at helping security teams manage container workloads across multiple clouds through its cloud security posture management (CSPM) tooling.
The company has announced general availability for serverless container posture scanning and preview expansion of Kubernetes node vulnerability assessment to Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). This means that security teams can now view vulnerability, exposure, identity, and configuration signals from Azure, AWS, and GCP container workloads in a single attack-path graph.
