Microsoft Expands Phone Link with Remote Windows PC Controls

Microsoft is expanding its Phone Link app to give Android users more control over their Windows 11 PCs. The feature, currently under development, would allow users to remotely lock, sleep, restart, or shut down their computers using an Android phone.

The remote power controls are tied to the existing cross-device tool that handles notifications, messaging, calls, clipboard sharing, and webcam functionality. Users can also install pending system updates as part of a remote restart or shutdown, eliminating the need for a separate step at the physical machine.

However, Microsoft has not activated remote power controls in any public or Insider build, and no release date or delivery method has been confirmed. The feature appears to be specific to Android devices and does not indicate whether it will extend to iOS devices.
