Microsoft Expands Xbox Backward Compatibility to Include Classic Xbox 360 Games
Microsoft is reportedly planning to expand its Xbox backward compatibility program on PC to include games from the Xbox 360 era. According to an internal document reviewed by The Verge, developers will be allowed to port their classic titles to PCs, as well as portable consoles and Project Helix.
The program aims to bring classic console exclusives to computers, with a full launch set for October 2026. Developers will have full control over the process, deciding whether to release their games on PC, at what price, and if they should be included in the Game Pass subscription.
This move is part of Microsoft's effort to make its classic library more accessible to PC users. The program has been tested with four games so far: BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and Fuzion Frenzy.
