Microsoft Fixes Bug That Reset Mouse Settings on Some Windows 11 Systems

Microsoft has finally fixed a bug that caused mouse settings to reset on some Windows 11 systems after installing the KB5120998 August update.

The issue, which affected users running versions 24H2 and 25H2 of Windows 11, was first reported by users who noticed their mouse cursor personalization settings had been changed or reset.

Microsoft confirmed the problem on Friday, just a day after releasing the KB5120998 update, which aimed to improve the Start menu, taskbar, and Windows search features.

The company explained that the issue was caused by 'code components' in non-English Windows installations, leading to setting load failures and default settings being used instead.

On Tuesday, Microsoft announced that it had resolved the bug in the KB5124008 September cumulative update and advised users to install the latest security update to fix the problem.
