Microsoft Fixes Record-Breaking 973 Security Flaws in September Updates
Microsoft released its September updates on Patch Tuesday, fixing a record-breaking 973 security vulnerabilities. This number more than doubles the previous month's total and is a significant concern for users.
The updates address issues in various Windows versions, including Windows 10 and 11, as well as Office products like Excel and SharePoint. Microsoft classified 113 of these vulnerabilities as critical, with 83 being remote code execution (RCE) issues.
Two zero-day exploits are already being actively used by attackers, targeting the Windows Update stack and Windows Advanced Local Procedure Call (ALPC). These vulnerabilities allow for elevated privileges and could lead to code execution without authentication or user interaction.
Users are strongly urged to update their Microsoft software immediately to protect against these serious risks. The next Patch Tuesday is scheduled for October 13th, 2026.
