Microsoft Forces OneDrive Photos App on Windows 11 Users Without Consent
Microsoft has been installing a OneDrive Photos app on Windows 11 PCs without user consent. The app, which is still in beta, is designed for photo viewing and organization with some light editing capabilities.
The company has acknowledged that the app is being automatically installed on consumer PCs, but also inadvertently deployed to business systems. Microsoft claims this was not intentional and is working to correct the issue.
Users have expressed frustration and concern over the installation of a consumer-targeted beta software on their work devices, with some even threatening to switch to Linux due to the perceived anti-consumer move by Microsoft.
