Microsoft Israel R&D Chief to Step Down After 13 Years
Michal Braverman-Blumenstyk is stepping down as Microsoft's Israel R&D chief after 13 years at the company, including six and a half years leading its Israeli research and development center. During her tenure, the operation doubled in size and became a global hub for AI and cybersecurity development.
The managing director of Microsoft's Israel R&D Center and chief technology officer of the company's Security Division will remain in her positions until the end of the year before leaving at the end of 2026. Her departure marks a significant change at Microsoft, which has made its Israeli operation an increasingly important part of its global technology organization.
The center's workforce doubled under Braverman-Blumenstyk's leadership, expanding across six sites and developing core technologies used by millions of Microsoft customers worldwide. She joined the company 13 years ago to establish and lead the Cloud Security group in Israel before helping create the Cloud and AI Security Division.
