Microsoft Issues Emergency Update for Windows 11
Microsoft has released an out-of-band update for Windows 11 to address issues caused by its recent September Patch Tuesday update. The update, which is available now, fixes problems with shared folders in Hyper-V-based Linux virtual machines, Remote Desktop Services sessions, and some USB audio devices.
The September updates affected multiple versions of Windows 11, including 26H1, 25H2, and 24H2. Microsoft also released corresponding updates for Windows Server 2025 and 2022, LTSC versions of Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2.
This is not the first time this year that Microsoft has released an out-of-band update to fix issues caused by its regular patch Tuesday updates. In January, the company issued four such updates after a problematic Windows 11 patch, and in March, it released two emergency fixes due to failures during update installation and problems signing in to Microsoft accounts.
