Microsoft Launches Saudi Arabia East Data Center Region in November 2026
Microsoft has announced that its Saudi Arabia East data center region will be available to customers in November 2026. This new region, located in the Eastern Province, will consist of three Azure Availability Zones and provide local data residency for government and private sector organizations.
The Microsoft cloud and AI services will enable these organizations to access supported cloud and AI services with enterprise-grade security, high availability, and low-latency access. Saudi Vision 2030 aims to build one of the world's most ambitious AI-powered economies, and this new region is a crucial step in achieving that goal.
According to Eng. Nasser AlNasser, Deputy Minister of Technology, 'Saudi Arabia is building one of the world's most ambitious AI-powered economies, enabled by strong partnerships and world-class digital infrastructure.' The availability of Microsoft's cloud region will accelerate AI adoption, empowering innovators, entrepreneurs, and organizations across all sectors.
Saudi organizations are already using Microsoft cloud and AI technologies, and this new region will create opportunities to bring more workloads into the Kingdom and scale AI across sectors where data residency, security, resilience, and latency are critical.
