Microsoft Optimizes Windows 11 for Faster Boot Times and 8GB RAM Performance
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 11 will have improved performance and boot times. At IFA 2026, Mark Linton, Corporate Vice President of Windows & Devices at Microsoft, said that the OS has made significant gains in performance and reduced boot times.
Linton stated that the faster boot time is not yet live in preview builds, but internal benchmarks suggest a reduction in boot times. He added that Microsoft is continuing to improve on fundamentals and listening to customer feedback to make Windows better with each update.
Microsoft also reaffirmed its commitment to making Windows 11 run well on 8GB RAM PCs. Linton said that the company is optimizing so that 8GB of RAM runs great on machines as well, but did not share any numbers.
