Microsoft Overhauls Copilot App, Merges Personal Chats Amid Feature Cuts

Microsoft has rolled out significant changes to its Copilot app, part of its broader branding shift from Microsoft 365 (Office) to Microsoft 365 Copilot. The update consolidates personal chat histories and content for users while removing several key features, including Group Chat, Podcasts, and Deep Research.

The redesigned app now provides a more cohesive experience across work, school, and personal contexts, allowing users to sign in with either their personal or work account. Chat histories and Copilot-created content will be merged into a single application for users accessing both the standalone Microsoft Copilot app and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

Microsoft emphasizes that despite consolidation, the boundaries between personal and enterprise data remain intact. Work accounts are subject to organizational security, privacy, compliance, and administrative controls, while personal data is not shared with organizations' Copilot environments.
