Microsoft Passes on Transparency Slider for Now
Microsoft's Partner Director of Design, Mark Rogers, recently responded to inquiries about adding a transparency slider to Windows 11, similar to Apple's Liquid Glass UI. He stated that while Microsoft hasn't ruled out such an addition in the future, it currently has no plans to introduce customization tools for tweaking the operating system's appearance.
Rogers cited third-party tools like Windhawk as providing the same functionality, and mentioned that Microsoft won't make changes unless they can offer a great experience to all Windows users. He also emphasized the importance of feedback from the community in shaping future developments.
The reasoning behind Microsoft's decision may be due to prioritizing other aspects of the operating system, such as improving memory efficiency. The company is working to optimize apps and make them more fluid on lower-end systems, including those with 8GB of RAM.
