Microsoft Patches Record-Breaking 974 Vulnerabilities Amid Zero-Day Exploits

Microsoft has released its largest Patch Tuesday update to date, addressing an astonishing 974 vulnerabilities across its software portfolio. This includes two zero-day flaws that have been actively exploited in the wild.

The company's September patch release surpasses its previous record of 457 vulnerabilities patched in August and brings the total number of vulnerabilities resolved this year to over 2,600.

Maryland-based cybersecurity firm Action1 observed that 'the challenge is not simply getting through the patch list but knowing what needs attention first.' They noted that with hundreds of updates landing at once, IT and security teams must quickly separate vulnerabilities demanding immediate action from those that can follow a normal deployment cycle.
