Microsoft Poised to Overtake Apple in Valuation

Microsoft and Apple are two of the most valuable companies in the world, with market caps well over $1 trillion. Currently, Apple has a higher valuation than Microsoft, but an analyst predicts that this will change within the next 18 months.

The reason for this prediction is based on Microsoft's growing opportunities related to artificial intelligence (AI). While neither company is truly taking off due to AI, Microsoft looks to be in a better position. Its Copilot assistant allows users to choose which chatbot to use and can help with day-to-day tasks such as spreadsheets and Word documents.

The analyst believes that this will eventually lead to an increase in Microsoft's growth rate and stock value. Additionally, Apple's valuation is 25% higher than Microsoft's, making it look overpriced compared to its earnings. With a price-to-earnings ratio of 35 times earnings, Apple may be due for a pullback.

The analyst concludes that within the next 18 months, perhaps sooner, Microsoft will have a higher valuation than Apple. It has more upside and exciting growth opportunities related to AI, while Apple's inflated valuation makes it less attractive.
