Microsoft Pushes Organizations to Abandon Active Directory

Microsoft is urging organizations to modernize their identity management systems, citing five key indicators that suggest reliance on traditional Active Directory environments. The company recommends adopting Entra ID, a cloud-based identity platform that provides context-aware access, governance, and support for SaaS and AI workloads.

The transition from Active Directory requires a gradual approach, starting with authentication and access control migration to the cloud. IT teams should also implement stronger sign-in methods, such as phishing-resistant authentication, and reduce dependence on outdated protocols.
